Filmmaking

I have had a passion for filmmaking since I was a teenager.

This little section regroups some of the films and film-related projects I was involved in on either side of the camera.

Filmmaking is a wonderful learning process.

Although I wrote a couple of scripts in the past, none of them ever became films, until 2016.

That’s when I cowrote and codirected with Ellis Meng my first short film, Sophia. I still composed the music (a convenient way I guess to be employed as a film composer) and I did the sound mix. The film was shot with a Sony A7RII and lit by Greg Schmittel. It was part of a 72-hour film competition so the entire thing was written, shot and edited in 3 days.

I then cowrote the Power of a Filmmaker, this time for 120-hour film project for that film I was in China and most of the crew was back in LA, thanks Internet. I mixed the sound on a laptop and after the festival was over, I color corrected the picture.

In June 2017, I wrote and directed Fling for another 120-hour film competition. I was supposed to write a romantic comedy (the theme of the competition) but as I was writing I had other ideas coming to my mind and I ended up doing some sort of a French-looking drama—but in English.

Then in August 2018, I wrote and directed Split, a film for the 48-hour film project, about the passive, self-centered relationship of a man with his soon-to-be wife.

Hopefully this is but the beginning of many more to come—this page will hopefully fill up.

Occasionally, I act—I will post those videos as well.
